DNV GL’s has teamed with Siemens on a digital asset model for oil and gas, combining its knowledge of projects and operations with Siemens’ Teamcenter product lifecycle management (PLM) technology. Today, projects suffer from disparity of formats and the lack of a single source of asset information for operators, designers, yards and manufacturers. DNV GL CEO Elisabeth Tørstad said, ‘Users will have access to an online, self-service portal that offers automated compliance-checking, benchmarking and data mining capabilities.’ A key component of the collaboration is Siemens’ ‘Active Workspace’ for Teamcenter, a PLM GUI that supports change management, workflow, requirements management and visualization.
DNV GL’s Veracity has been deployed by Lundin Norway in what is said to be one of a ‘few practical use cases’ of digitalization in oil and gas to date. Veracity is currently monitoring energy use from 2,000 sensors installed on Lundin’s Edvard Grieg offshore hydrocarbon processing facility. The expectation is that Veracity will help anticipate a shutdown situation before it happens. The data science application was developed by four student interns.
