Netherlands-based Culgi has co-authored (with Shell) a book chapter on the ‘Application of computer simulations to surfactant chemical enhanced oil recovery.’ A new release, V9.0 of its eponymous modeling package enhances the NWChem quantum chemistry module to allow for ‘orbital visualization and the treatment of surfaces.’ The Monte Carlo engine can now handle free energy calculations. A database of 25,000 molecules has been added to the package. Culgi is currently in contact with a number of companies interested in applying its chemical modeling to shale, and recently signed with an unnamed US oil company to ‘enable IT solutions for digital chemical oil.’ More from Culgi.
