Wonderware wearables for mobile workforce

Schneider Electric unit updates ‘SmartGlance’ with open interface for pushing notifications.

Schneider Electric, which acquired Invensys earlier this year, has updated the Wonderware ‘SmartGlance’ mobile reporting solution to facilitate monitoring and analyzing real-time plant and process data from mobile devices. The latest SmartGlance release, 2014 R2, includes support for wearable technologies, a multi-platform browser-based interface and multiple time zones for round-the-clock working.

Product manager Saadi Kermani said, ‘Plant personnel require access to real-time operations information from smart phones, tablets and other mobile devices. SmartGlance provides personalized charts, reports and alerts and the flexibility to view and collaborate on operations for timely, effective decision making.’

A new MyAlerts app notifies users of process events based on configurable thresholds for tag reports. The SmartGlance works on smart watches to provide hands-free real time data to plant supervisors and managers of critical production and process information. An open interface allows data to be pushed to mobile devices from ‘virtually any data’ source. The new release extends connectivity to Schneider’s Citect SCADA, PRiSM predictive analytics and the eDNA historian.
