Hess Corporation has migrated its SAP Hana test, development and quality assurance environments to Washington-headquartered Virtustream’s xStream cloud. Hess was facing problems managing and maintaining its on-site Hana deployment and wanted shift its expenditure from Capex to Opex.
Virtustream also assisted Hess
with the deployment of its production SAP environment to its on-premise
data center and is providing maintenance and management support for
both the on-site production and cloud-based test environments. Hess is
also using Virtustream cloud storage for backup and disaster recovery
purposes.
xStream leverages Virtustream’s µVM resource management, a patented cloud resource manager offering standardized, fine-grained bundles of compute resources to provide accurate provisioning and measurement of resources in the clouds. Virtustream unveiled its SAP Hana ECC cloud last year. This is now available as a software subscription option through an arrangement with SAP America.
