Badger plugs-on with mission impossible!

Autonomous driller not yet prime-time ready—good video though.

At the AGM last month, Badger Explorer CEO David Blacklaw reaffirmed the company’s goal of developing an autonomous drilling device. The tool is to drill ‘autonomously,’ closing the path behind it with a plug ‘to prevent oil and gas from escaping.’ On board logging tools send data back home along a trailing wire.

Badger has abandoned its plasma channel drilling technology in favor of a conventional drill bit, selling its Plasma Technology unit last year. While progress on development is slow, the company has come up with a fabulous video. Badger has financial backing from ExxonMobil, Chevron and Statoil.
