ISN CTO Martin Kucharcik thinks that a new hardware bundle from NetApp, Cisco and VMware is likely to have a significant role as a server for upstream data and applications. The ‘FlexPod’ solution is a pre-integrated compute platform consisting of Cisco’s Unified Computing bland server, VMware virtualization system , storage from NetApp and networking again from Cisco.
For Kucharcik, FlexPod appears to offer a lot to the IT department in terms of scalability and ease of management. FlexPod also offers an impressively specced Citrix server with 0.5 TB of memory, capable of running hundreds of virtual machines—ISN sees Citrix as key to its oil and gas clients’ IT infrastructure.
