Midland Valley Exploration (MVE) is porting its Move geological structural modeling flagship to 64 bit editions of Mac OS 10.6 and above. The Mac port will be available in the 2013 Move release and will support all modeling modules, FieldMove and MoveViewer. Move 2013 will continue to operate on 32-bit and 64-bit Windows Vista and Windows 7 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and 6 (64-bit only).
Move chief engineer Mike Krus observed, ‘Adding the Mac to our supported platforms provides another option for our clients in industry and academia to utilise the hardware available to them. Long-term it represents the beginning of our software development plans to introduce new products on platforms including iPad and Android.’ The Mac port was facilitated by MVE’s use of the Qt cross platform GUI development environment.
