UK announces ‘PEARS’ online licensing system

UK Department of Energy and Climate Change adds web-based licensing and relinquishments.

The Energy Development Unit of the UK government has announced a new web-enabled licensing system to go live later this year. ‘PEARS,’ the petroleum e-licensing assignments and relinquishments system will let license holders manage offshore licenses online including operator approvals, equity interest changes and relinquishments. The new system is designed to provide security and ease of use and will ne part of the UK Oil Portal, which already takes on-line applications for new licenses.
