Invensys signs with ACM Facility Safety

ACM’s Machu Picchu decision support tool extends Invensys’ Triconex process safety systems.

Invensys Operations Management is now the exclusive provider of a process safety decision-support solution from ACM Facility Safety (a division of ACM Automation). Invensys will now offer ACM’s ‘Machu Picchu’ safety decision-support software to the global process industry.

Invensys principal Steve Elliott said, ‘Invensys and ACM are making industrial plants safer. Invensys delivers new solutions that let customers continuously track deviations between the plant’s designed risk profile and the actual operating risk profile. Dashboard displays will allow operators to identify and potentially eliminate process risks. This capability enhances our Triconex safety systems to help clients achieve sustainable environment and safety excellence.’

Machu Piccu works alongside automation, control and safety systems providing visibility into process risks, leveraging expert knowledge of a plant’s risk parameters, diagnostic alarms and historical operator observations to monitor integrity. If a deviation is identified, risk levels are computed and operators receive a set of pre-engineered contingency plans on how to address the abnormal situation.

ACM general manager Murray Macza said, ‘Today’s end users are under tremendous pressure to run their plants at maximum throughput without limiting their commitment to safety and the environment. By working with Invensys, we can accelerate the adoption of new technology that will help process manufacturers improve their business and achieve safety and operational excellence.’ More from www.oilit.com/links/1104_30 (Invensys) and www.oilit.com/links/1104_31 (ACM).
