Energy Ventures, National Oilwell, Read, Viking, GSE, Honeywell, RIM, QNX, Thomson, Point Carbon...

Energy Ventures, in partnership with National Oilwell Varco and Scottish Enterprise’s Scottish Venture Fund, has invested more than $6 million in Sigma Offshore. The deal marks the firm’s third round of funding for the company.

Energy Ventures is also lead investor in the downhole technology service provider Read Well Services, which provides cased hole logging service and hydraulically expandable well construction and tubing/casing repair services. Viking Venture, KLP and the management team of RWS are also involved in the transaction. The investors and management will own 100% of the shares in RWS post transaction for a consideration based on an agreed enterprise value of NOK 170 million.

Real-time simulation and training solutions provider GSE Systems has acquired TAS Holdings in a complex transaction including $123,000 cash plus shares and an income-related payment.

Honeywell has acquired Matrikon for approximately $142 million and will integrate the unit into Honeywell Process Solutions, part of its Automation and Control Solutions business group.

Research In Motion is to acquire QNX Software Systems from Harman International.

Thomson Reuters is to acquire Point Carbon A/S, a Norwegian-based provider of trading analytics, news and content for the energy and environmental markets. Point Carbon content will be available through Thomson Reuters Eikon, the company’s new desktop offering to be launched later this year. Terms were not disclosed.
