Petrosys User Group report

dbMap gains traction. Web map services, Petrel and Google Earth extensions prove popular.

Petrosys’ international user group meetings were held late last year. dbMap appears to be (re)gaining traction as a ‘practical solution’ to the data management challenge with its image georeferencing, export to Google Earth and links to Schlumberger’s Petrel. Users are also leveraging Petrosys’ E&P master data management and PPDM expertise.

Petrosys notes a ‘continued reliance’ on both Windows and Linux desktops with a trend towards ‘batch automation’ of intelligent workflows leveraging web services and ‘conditional processing. In this context, OGC-compliant web map services allow geodata to be ‘consumed’ by a variety of devices.

The session concluded with a discussion on geostatistical enhancements to Petrosys in the form of kriging modelling improvements to gridding processes. Clients argued the case for extending integration to Paradigm’s applications and discussed roles and drivers for future OpenSpirit-enabled workflows. More from petrosys.com.au.
