Octave Reservoir Technologies has signed with Barcelona-based Worldsensing for the development of a near surface monitoring solution leveraging a proprietary wireless seismic acquisition system. Worldsensing eschews Wifi, Zigbee and UWB-based communications preferring instead its own ‘cutting edge’ wireless technology which promises high bandwidth, range and ‘ultra low’ power consumption.
Earlier this year Worldsensing won an IBM SmartCamp award for its prototype ‘smart car parking’ solution and its ‘close alignment with IBM’s Smarter Planet vision. Octave is to turn Worldsensing’s technology into a smart oilfield solution. More from www.worldsensing.com and www.octaveresrvoir.com.
