ABB teams with Industrial Defender on secure automation

Whitelist-based cyber security solution to protect ABB’s process control systems.

ABB has joined with process control cyber security specialist Industrial Defender (ID) to deliver secure automation systems. The partnership will provide cyber security and compliance automation for process control systems. Jens Birgersson, head of ABB’s Network Management business unit said, ‘As the world’s power systems become more dependent on IT-based control systems for their safety and reliability, new cyber security standards are emerging. Collaboration with ID will offer customers purpose-built solutions to protect the integrity of their automation systems.’ In what is described as a non-exclusive partnership, ABB will integrate, market and distribute ID’s cyber security and compliance automation products.

ID’s flagship is the Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS), a ‘whitelist’- based technology that only lets authorized applications execute on a given device—thus blocking unauthorized applications and malware is blocked. More from www.abb.com and www.industrialdefender.com.
