CSC for DuPont’s REACH compliance reporting

CSC to develop Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals solution.

DuPont has awarded Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) a contract for the implementation of a compliance program to satisfy the new European ‘Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals’ (REACH) regulations. Introduced in 2006, REACH calls for the registration and tracking of chemicals that are manufactured, used or transported in Europe. Non compliance with REACH could incur penalties such as plant shut downs or a transport ban.

CSC has developed REACH methodology for complex portfolios of projects that involve IT, data management, process and organizational change.

Russ Owen, president of CSC’s Americas Commercial Group said, ‘This solution is part of a new family of compliance offerings from our Chemical, Energy and Natural Resources vertical. It will leverage our understanding of REACH legislation and will help establish DuPont as an early leader in this effort.’ CSC has provided infrastructure, applications and business consulting services to DuPont since 1997, notably via a 10 year, $4.3 billion IT outsourcing deal, extended in 2005 with a $1.9 billion extension through to 2014.
