Schlumberger announces ‘Ocean Store’

Plug-in writers sought for Petrel ‘iApps’ to roll out at next year’s London SIS Forum.

At an ‘Executive Breakfast’ during last month’s Society of Exploration Geophysicists Convention, Schlumberger rolled-out its Ocean Store, described as a ‘collaboration space’ for Ocean developers to market their Petrel plug-ins. The official store opening will be at the SIS Global Forum in London next May, meanwhile Schlumberger is soliciting contributions from plug-in developers to constitute a ‘showcase’ of independent software vendors at the Forum.

Another development in the Ocean 2009.2 release will be of interest to data managers who can now create data management workflows such that Petrel projects can be opened and saved programmatically—with Petrel running in ‘silent’ mode. Schlumberger claims 20,000 plus Petrel licenses in its global install base. The Ocean development environment is used by ‘4 of 5’ super-majors. More from
