IHS acquires UK decision support boutique JFA International

‘Global Window’ software for upstream business opportunities analysis at heart of deal.

IHS has acquired energy industry decision-support services company JFA International in a $4 million cash transaction. JFA provides strategic analysis to E&P companies. JFA’s flagship software tool ‘Global Window’ is a decision support tool that provides a framework through which oil and gas upstream business opportunities can be compared and characterized from a technical, commercial, economic and strategic perspective.

Stead

IHS chairman and CEO Jerre Stead said, ‘The acquisition of JFA International will position IHS to provide even greater insight to customers by further leveraging our core position and E&P data. It enables us to convert our critical information into strategic frameworks and analyses that drive customers’ investment decisions.’ JFA was founded in 2003 by Bob Johnson, David Finlayson and Graham Bliss. The ‘information-rich’ tool and technical and commercial methodology supports strategic planning and portfolio management. JFA has worked extensively with IHS data and the company sees ‘synergy and scope for growth’ in the IHS global market place.
