JP Kenny models pipeline performance with SIMULA

Wood Group pipeline engineering unit studies hurricane impact with Dassault Systèmes’ modeler.

Wood Group pipeline and subsea engineering unit JP Kenny has deployed Simulia’s ‘Abaqus’ finite element analysis (FEA) package for design and installation engineering operations in several major Western Australian gas field projects.

Cowper

JP Kenny pipeline business leader Gordon Cowper said, ‘To make the undersea infrastructure more secure, we have used Abaqus FEA software to plan for major event scenarios, including the impact of cyclones on pipeline dynamics. Abaqus has reduced simulation times and improved the efficiency and accuracy of pipeline design and route mapping.’

CATIA

Abaqus FEA models static and dynamic loads, vibration, multibody systems and complex physics in a common data model and integrated solver. Simulia is a wholly-owned unit of Dassault Systèmes of France and Abacus can cohabit with Dassault’s flagship Catia CAD package.

Short

Ken Short, Simula VP marketing added; ‘Abaqus has a history of use in energy, petrochemicals and offshore exploration. We continuously develop new technology for customers like JP Kenny to address the challenging engineering problems associated with increasingly harsh operating environments.’
