Geofizyka Krakow deploys GridwiseTech data management

Grid computing specialist sells storage technology, Manager’s Guide to Grid Computing published.

Polish grid computing specialist GridwiseTech has sold a scalable, software-based data management system to seismic processing contractor, Geofizyka Krakow, part of PGNiG, Poland’s largest E&P company.

GridwiseTech (GWT) is a vendor-independent grid computing and virtualization specialist with an offering that spans data processing, application debottlenecking and the provision of turnkey, scalable computing systems.

Plaszczak

GWT president Pawel Plaszczak was an early grid computing pioneer, working on the Argonne National Lab’s Globus project. Plaszczak also co-authored the book, ‘Grid Computing: The Savvy Manager’s Guide*.’ At the International Supercomputing Conference in Dresden last month, GWT demoed engineering and financial simulations run from a mobile device, leveraging remote grid computing resources.
