Qatargas selects Emerson for digital LNG plant

Six ‘multi billion’ dollar liquid natural gas facilities to leverage Emerson PlantWeb, Fieldbus.

Qatargas has named Emerson Process Management (EPM) as its ‘preferred supplier’ of digital automation solutions to be deployed at its oil, gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities. The Qatargas-Emerson alliance builds on a four year collaboration between the two companies on automation of six multi-billion dollar facilities in Ras Laffan. The deal includes Emerson’s PlantWeb digital plant architecture, Foundation Fieldbus communications, integration with third-party equipment and the provision of information technology services.

Azibert

Qatargas COO Jacques Azibert said, ‘Qatargas pioneered LNG Qatar, now home to the world’s largest processing facilities. We originally selected Emerson as our main instrumentation and controls supplier because of its leadership in automation and its business model that emphasizes both project and operations needs, including continuous improvement and long term operational support. The new alliance secures our future success through best in class automation.’

Berra

EPM president John Berra added, ‘We are committed to continued, effective and efficient project development of Qatargas 2, 3 and 4, as well as long term project and operational excellence at all Qatargas’ facilities.’
