AspenTech has received a ‘Wells Notice’ from the SEC of possible civil action regarding its 2004-2005 accounts. In March AspenTech settled a class action with a $5.6 million payment to some shareholders.

Visean has appointed Lloyd Taylor as non-executive director. Taylor was formerly CEO of Fletcher Challenge Energy.

CGG/Baker Hughes joint venture VS Fusion has acquired microseismic monitoring specialist Magnitude.

Saudi Aramco has awarded Halliburton the oilfield services component of the 300 well Khurais mega project.

Norske Shell has awarded Norwegian Octaga the real-time virtual reality visualization on its Ormen Lange facility.
Rock Solid Images is to team on the integration of seismic and well log data with OHM’s CSEM technology.

Don Roesle is CEO of Ryder Scott, John Hamlin is now managing senior VP and Joe Magoto has joined the board of directors. Jennifer Fitzgerald has left ExxonMobil to take a petroleum engineering position with the company.

Statoil is to become ‘carbon neutral’ by buying quotas for CO2 emissions to offset its business travel and office heating.

Tom Readinger has retired as Associate Director of the US Offshore Minerals Management Program. Readinger chaired the OMM’s Information Management Committee and promoted e-government.

Correction

Datalog CTO Dave Hawker pointed out a couple of errors in our April article on Datalog’s Anax 500 logger. Anax runs on OpenBSD not QNX as we wrongly stated. Although MySQL is ‘open source’, Hawker points out that this commercial use is under license.
