Halliburton Energy revenues up 42% as antitrust investigation mooted (April 1998)

Halliburton's Energy Group's 1998 firstquarter revenues totaled $1.6 billion, an increase of 42 percent compared to the 1997first quarter. Revenue growth was particularly strong in international markets whererevenues increased by more than 50 percent from a year ago.

Following last month's announcement of a proposed merger between Halliburton Company and Dresser Industries, Inc., the companies have received requests for additional information from the Antitrust Division of the U. S. Department of Justice. Halliburton and Dresser indicated that the requests for additional information were not unexpected and they plan to respond promptly to the Department of Justice. The companies expect to complete the merger during the fall of 1998.
