Companies combine (July 1996)

Digicon merges with Veritas DGC and Sercel takes over Opseis.

The corporate merry-go-round has seen two significant combinations being formed over the past couple of months. US geophysical service company Digicon has teamed up with Canadian company Veritas Energy Services to form Veritas DGC, a move mainly driven by the need to add resources muscle in order to compete with the other global geoscience industry companies. Meanwhile Sercel, the CGG subsidiary specializing in cable telemetry seismic acquisition systems, is taking over Opseis, manufacturer of the market leading Opseis Eagle radio telemetry acquisition, in what is seen by the industry as a good fit.
