The American Petroleum Institute (API) and the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP) have signed a memorandum of understanding to ‘establish a stronger partnership, share world-class practices and collectively engage on the industry’s contributions to society’.
ExxonMobil has signed collaboration agreements with six other companies to accelerate the development its Open Process Automation (OPA) standard. Companies in the initiative are now Aramco Services Co., BASF, ConocoPhillips, Dow Chemical, Georgia-Pacific and Linde. The partners are members of the Open Process Automation Forum (OPAF), a group established by The Open Group. The goal is for a standards-based, open, interoperable, and secure automation architecture. An OPA test bed is targeted to be operational by year-end 2019.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is to adopt the XBRL standard for utilities reporting, transitioning from a legacy Visual FoxPro system. FERC is to build an XBRL taxonomy to accommodate its reporting forms and will convene staff-led technical conferences to discuss the draft.
PIDX, the Petroleum Industry Data Exchange has released its Supply Notification standard a royalty-free public standard that enables suppliers, trading partners and terminal operators to notify when an event has occurred that could prevent the ability to load at a given terminal. Supply events are important to all parties in the supply chain and proactive notification ‘improves the efficiencies for dispatching trucks to terminals where product is available’. In a separate announcement, PIDX announces that ‘blockchain-as-a-service’ provider Data Gumbo has joined the organization.
