Apache deploys GIS-based environmental monitoring

Spatial Energy develops ‘first of a kind’ satellite-based asset performance tracking system.

GIS data and software boutique, Spatial Energy, has created a remote sensing-based environmental monitoring program to monitor Apache Corp.’s global assets. Apache VP HSE David Carmony
explained, ‘Environmental stewardship is central to our operations and reputation. We are using satellite imagery to implement an enterprise-wide environmental monitoring program and make our operations more efficient with on-going inventory monitoring.’

The system will be used for ‘pro-active’ environmental monitoring of land and offshore operations leveraging an ‘enterprise-wide workflow’ and operational program to monitor worldwide exploration and production activities along with acquisitions and divestitures.

Spatial Energy president Bud Pope added, ‘This first-of-its kind energy industry initiative will monitor the environmental impact and safety of Apache’s operations in areas of current and historical development, as well as in environmentally sensitive areas. We will provide the latest high resolution satellite and aerial data, advanced algorithms and delivery methods, along with the processing support needed to meet Apache’s requirements.’ More from info@spatialenergy.com.
