MatrikonOPC’s SNMP for OPC plugs IT into process control

New Agent technology brings hitherto ‘inaccessible’ digital assets into network administrators’ radar.

MatrikonOPC has released a new Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) to OPC* bridge to link the worlds of information technology (IT) and process control. Matrikon’s SNMP Agent lets network administrators monitor and manage previously ‘inaccessible’ assets including digital control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLC) alongside conventional IT assets.

Sean Leonard, Matrikon VP OPC products said, ‘Historically, IT and process control worlds have been separate. We have been working to bring them closer together. The SNMP Agent gives our customers the power to manage IT and process assets in real-time, wherever they are located.’ SNMP Agent includes a wizard based configurator and can be downloaded from the Matrikon website at www.oilit.com/links/0906_4.
