Roxar reports on 2008 success in Middle East, Asia Pacific

Noteworthy software sales to Petronas, Sinopec, CNOOC, PetroVietnam.

Stavanger, Norway-based Roxar reports a successful 2008 for its Asia Pacific division with ‘multi million’ dollar software sales and closer relationships with Asia Pacific NOCs and educational establishments. A $10 million, three-year contract was signed with Petronas for the full suite of Roxar’s reservoir modeling toolset, Irap RMS, Fracperm, Tempest and the EnAble history matching application. The deal includes customized training programs for one hundred geoscientists and reservoir engineers.

Other significant sales were made to National Oil Companies (NOC) in China and Vietnam including PetroChina, Sinopec and CNOOC and PetroVietnam. The company has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Hanoi University of Mining and Geology for the establishment of a laboratory at the university. Roxar is to donate US$2.5 million worth of software for academic use. Another academic partnership deal has been struck with Universitas Padjadjaran (UNPAD) in Bandung, Indonesia. Roxar’s customer base in the Asia Pacific region now includes over 100 international and national E&P companies. Roxar’s Asian push is supported from offices in Beijing, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, and Perth.
