Roxar rolls-out FracPerm 2.0

‘Data-driven’ modeling approach claimed to reduce risk in fractured reservoir management.

The latest release of Roxar’s fracture modeling package, FracPerm, promises simplified workflows and reduced uncertainty in fracture modeling. FracPerm 2.0 enables geologists and reservoir engineers to create permeability maps for use in fluid flow simulation and history matching of oil and gas reservoirs.

Irap RMS

FracPerm operates alongside Roxar’s IrapRMS geological modeling package, adding geological properties, geo-statistics and geo-history in a ‘data-driven’ approach, designed to maximize data use and model QC. FracPerm 2.0 includes a redesigned interface and a new plug-in structure for improved integration other software.

Esslemont

Roxar CEO Sandy Esslemont said, ‘Two-thirds of the world’s proven reserves lie in areas with acknowledged issues of fracture-affected recovery. When FracPerm was launched in 2005, it brought fracture modeling from a niche discipline to a widely used tool helping geologists, and geophysicists improve their reservoir models.’ FracPerm users include Hydro, Lukoil, Saudi Aramco, ADMA, OMV, MOL, Surgutneftegas, Petrochina, Pertamina, and CuuLong Vietnam.
