Landmark bags GMA

Just when you thought that things were quieting down in the software acquisitions and mergers sector, Landmark ups and buys the G&G software assets of Geophysical Micro Computer Applications for $6.8 million.

Landmark Graphics Canada has acquired the geological and geophysical software assets of Geophysical Micro Computer Applications (GMA) for $6.8 million. The software is to integrate Landmark’s Geographix PC-based interpretation product line. Landmark president and CEO Bob Peebler said "GeoGraphix will provide an integrated environment for verifying seismic interpretations with geologic models to reduce the risk and uncertainty inherent in the interpretation process."

One industry source expressed surprise at the price paid for the GMA synthetic modeling package - but PDM understands that the focus of the acquisition is rather the GMA client base.
